Tranmere Rovers has announced that Paul Lewis has agreed to re-join the Club from Northampton Town on a two-year contract.
The midfielder was part of the Tranmere team which reached the League Two Play-Offs during the 2020/21 season and now returns to Prenton Park after one season at Sixfields. His transfer will take effect on 10 June when the window opens.
Paul helped the Cobblers to a fourth-place finish in League Two whilst chipping in with seven goals and two assists from midfield, a nearly identical contribution to the season before with Rovers.
After returning to the Wirral, Paul said, “I’m made up. I can’t wait to get back out there and get going again.
“I believe that Tranmere are always going to be at the top end of the table so that was a big factor in me coming back. I really enjoyed it last time I was here.
“I want to get promotion and go one step further than last time I was here. To do that with fans back inside stadiums would be great. I remember when we played Morecambe in the play-offs, there was only a few thousand here but it felt a lot more so I’m excited to play in front of the fans”
Manager Micky Mellon said, “We’re really happy to bring Paul back to the Club. We know his qualities and what he can bring to the team.
“He’s a player who can do both sides of the game with his work rate as well as his goal contributions from midfield.
“I didn’t get to work with him when he was last at the club but he was a player that was always on our radar before he joined and I’m really pleased that he will be part of the group going forward.”
