Partial closure order on Wallasey property

Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team, working in partnership with Merseyside Police, has obtained a Partial Closure Order today (21 July 2021) on a property that had become a hotspot for neighbourhood nuisance.

The Order on 27 Stringhey Road, Wallasey was sought in response to complaints from neighbours that people were attending the address day and night causing anti-social behaviour.

This behaviour included threats, shouting, foul language, assaults, banging on the property to be let in and constant visitors to the address all day and night.

Wirral’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team started receiving complaints regarding the address on the 10 May 2021, but despite a closure warning being served to the tenant of the address, the behaviour continued.

A closure notice was served on the property on 8 July 2021, only allowing the tenant and her family to remain until today’s hearing.

The order, which remains in force for three months until 21 October 2021, now prohibits any person from entering the property or garden areas, apart from the tenant, her two children, her sister, her parents or any person who has permission to do so from Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

Anyone found to be in the property without consent could be arrested and face a potential prison sentence of up to six months or a fine of up to £5,000 – or both.

Mark Camborne, Wirral Council’s Assistant Director – Neighbourhood Safety and Transport, said, “Cases such as these show how important it is for statutory partners to support those residents who are victims of anti-social behaviour and use the full powers available to us to act against people who makes life a misery for their neighbours. It is also vital that people report problems to us so we can take action.”

Anti-social behaviour can be reported using an online form here – https://my.wirral.gov.uk/service/Anti_social_behaviour_report  – or by email to [email protected]
