On Tuesday evening Cammell Laird 1907 FC travelled to Staffordshire for their first-ever visit to Foley Meir.
A poor start saw Meir take a 12th-minute lead through Wakefield which they held until half time.
Lairds got an early breakthrough in the second period when being awarded a penalty in the 48th minute and captain Ryan Smith made no mistake from the spot.
The game then ebbed and flowed in the freezing conditions until Lloyd put Meir back in front as he punished a defensive blunder, but within two minutes Danny Stephens levelled matters for Lairds as they shared the points at full time.
Saturday’s home fixture versus Stockport Georgians started badly as the visitors opened their account within seven minutes as Atkinson reacted quicker than the home defence to go 1-0 ahead. Lairds struggled to take control throughout the first half and remained 1-0 down at the break.
Slack marking in the 53rd minute saw Georgians increase their lead when Hind had a free header and he found the net with ease.
Despite Kieran Hamm providing hope of a fightback with a superb headed goal in the 60 minute, the visitors broke away on 73 minutes and Hind netted his second goal to seal a 3-1 success over an out of sorts Lairds team, but debutant Michael Speed had a great game and substitutes Joel Oguigo and Will Lyons added some spice up front when coming on.
On Tuesday 7 Feb Lairds are in Staffordshire again as they visit Abbey Hulton United (7.45pm kick off) and are then away against Cheadle Town on Saturday 11 February with a 3pm kick off.
