Oldershaw School marks 100 years with ‘Centenary Building’

Dr. Ian Cubbin, the Chair of the Oldershaw Trust Board, and Dave Critchley the Executive Chef of Lu Ban and north-west chef in the Great British Menu 2022 officially opened the new Centenary Building at Oldershaw School on Tuesday 10 May 2022.

Dating back to 1920, the Oldershaw School in Wallasey was founded by Dr. John Oldershaw, the former Mayor of Wallasey.

The school has since gone on to deliver high-quality education for over 100 years in the local Wallasey community and is now about to start celebrating its delayed centenary year by opening a new building which will be a stylish street food hub called Dr. John’s Eatery offering students fantastic food and a great atmosphere.

The building was commissioned by the Oldershaw Trust Board to meet the growing needs of this heavily oversubscribed school and was officially opened by the Chair of the Trust Board, Dr. Ian Cubbin, alongside special guest Dave Critchley, Executive Chef of renowned restaurant Lu Ban, and North West representative chef on the Great British Menu 2022.

The official opening also saw the unveiling a new portrait of Dr. John Oldershaw, the schools founder, produced by renowned local artist, Joe Forrest, which was kindly sponsored by Frank Rogers Construction.

School Principal, Jon Bush said, ”This new building will be a stunning addition to the already excellent facilities at the school and provide students and staff with a contemporary and nutritious food offer in keeping with the second century of the school’s education offer.”
