Old Swan man arrested after driving off without paying for fuel eight times

Police have arrested a man and seized several items including a car and drugs after an extensive combined police investigation in Old Swan.

At around 5.45am on Monday, 3 June, officers searched an address in Old Swan and arrested a man in relation to several linked incidents of making off without payment from petrol stations in the local area.

After searching the address officers also found a quantity of cannabis, scales, two mobiles, and a suspected stolen car.

All items were seized by police and a 41-year-old man from Old Swan was arrested on suspicion of eight counts of making off without payment and possession with intent to sell Class B drugs.

He was taken to a police station in Merseyside and has since been bailed with conditions.

Superintendent Mark WIggins said, “This arrest was a combined response between several of our teams and officers in Liverpool to resolve eight crimes for which the offender was previously not known and I thank them for their extensive investigations and enquiries.

“Our commitment to finding and bringing anyone suspected of such offences to justice is continuous and I want to take this opportunity to remind people to be vigilant and report any incidents or information to police.”

Anyone with information regarding drugs or theft is asked to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X @MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police CC.
