No access to M53 via Moreton Spur this weekend

Drivers in Merseyside are being advised that access to the M53 at junction 2a, Moreton Spur, will be closed for the whole of this weekend.

While drivers will still be able to leave the motorway at the junction, the eastbound spur and slip roads onto both the northbound and southbound M53 are being closed so they can be resurfaced – from 9pm tonight (Friday 23 September) until 5am on Monday (26 September).

Motorway users are being advised to join the M53 from other junctions.

As well as resurfacing National Highways will also be carrying out other maintenance.

Drivers are advised to check traffic conditions before setting out on journeys.

Live traffic information is always available at www.trafficengland.com  or from National Highways’ 24-7 customer contact centre at 0300 123 5000.

Updates will also be posted to @HighwaysNWest – National Highways’ regional Twitter feed.
