Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) announced the appointment of a new chairperson at the Trust’s Annual Members’ Meeting on Thursday 11 November.
Isla Wilson, current vice-chair of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System, has been appointed and will take up her new position as chair of CWP on 3 January 2022, following the end of current chair Mike Maier’s term of office.
Isla comments, “I’m delighted to be joining the Trust Board at CWP – an organisation with an impressive track record of living their values in everything they do.
“Partnership has long been at the core of how CWP operates and it will be great to have the opportunity to work collaboratively with our partners across the whole system, to provide high-quality, joined-up care for our local populations.
“As someone who believes in the power of service user involvement and in working closely with our local communities, it is an honour to work for a Trust which provides services in areas I already know and love, which I am proud to call home and where I access health and care services myself.
“I am looking forward to getting started, getting out and about, and meeting colleagues, partners, service users and people in our communities.”
Mike Maier, CWP chair, comments, “We are delighted to welcome Isla to our Annual Members’ Meeting this year as our chair-designate. Isla brings to CWP a wealth of system experience which will support the Trust’s ambitions to play its full role at ‘Place’ improving local population health, as well as within the Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care System and North West region – highlighted by the two new lead provider collaboratives launched at the start of October. This is an exciting time to be joining CWP.
“For my part, being a non-executive director at CWP for eleven years – six years as chair – has been the highlight of my career and an absolute honour. Before I step down from the role of chair, the next two months sees the culmination of an important engagement period at the Trust, #CWPCares, which has focused on the wellbeing of colleagues and saying an enormous thank you for all of their efforts during the pandemic. I can’t think of a more fitting end to my tenure, having worked with such an inspirational group of people.”
Isla Wilson was appointed by the Trust’s Council of Governors following a recruitment process in September 2021. She will step down from her role at Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System at the end of March 2022.
