More of Wirral’s residents can get access to books, IT facilities and the reference Library as four more libraries reopen this week and other services resume at the central sites.
Irby, Pensby, St James and Wallasey Village will reopen their doors to readers from Thursday and Friday this week (28 and 29 October).
Opening hours of the libraries will look a little different from previously. These will be:
• Irby and St James – Monday and Thursday, 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm, and 9am to 1pm on every other Saturday
• Pensby and Wallasey Village – Tuesday and Friday, 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm and 9am to 1pm on every other Saturday

Reduced IT facilities are now also available at all open library sites for residents to access computers. These are operated on a “drop in” basis and sessions will be limited to one-hour based on availability.
In addition to this, those wanting to take a look back in history and visit the library for books that cannot be loaned, the reference library at Birkenhead Central Library is now open. There is a limited room capacity so booking is advised although walk-ins will be accepted depending on how busy it is.

All visitors are asked to follow the advisory guidance displayed on the COVID-19 safety notices in place at the sites, to help keep themselves, other visitors and staff safe. Those visiting the library are asked to keep a safe distance and consider wearing masks in busy areas.
Screens and hand sanitising stations will still be available on site to help protect visitors and staff and ensure that regular cleaning of hands can be continued.
The online library can continue to be accessed as usual and residents can join the library for free at any time by visiting the council’s website.
The borough’s central libraries, Bebington, Birkenhead, Wallasey and West Kirby, along with Bromborough, Eastham, Greasby, Moreton and Rock Ferry also remain open. For opening times, please visit the council’s website www.wirral.gov.uk/findalibrary
