Recent fixtures for Cammell Laird 1907 FC has seen mixed fortunes as they battled to a deserved 0-0 away draw at high-flying Isle of Man, but then fell foul of a poor performance away at Stockport Town in a bad defeat.
However, Lairds got back on the winning trail at home versus struggling Alsager Town and recorded a well earned 5-1 success with some excellent goals.
The opening stages were very even before Lairds began to create some good openings and in the 20th minute. A superb cross from captain Jake Hulley was superbly headed home by Mike Jones and ten minutes later Jones added a second following a flowing move down the right.
Lairds were now in full flow and were awarded a penalty in the 37th minute, which Kieran Hamm despatched with ease to make it 3-0 at the interval.
The second period saw Lairds well in command as Alsager struggled to contain their flowing football, which on 62 minutes saw Kieran Hamm net his second goal with a fearsome angled volley into the far corner.
A momentary lapse in defence enabled Alsager to pull a goal back in the 65th minute. But in the 69th minute an excellent break down the right saw Kieran Hamm complete his hat-trick with yet another superb volleyed finish in a great individual display that deserved such accolades.
Chances again were created but wasted and the final result of 5-1 was enough on the day.
Lairds are in action again on Tuesday evening with a Wirral DFA cup semi-final at home versus Ellesmere Port with a 7.45pm kick-off.
