Men sought following Birkenhead street robbery

Detectives have issued CCTV images of two men who could have information that may assist with their enquiries following a robbery in Birkenhead last month.

Just before 9.15pm on Tuesday 5 June, it was reported that two men approached a 13-year-old boy on Argyle Street South and stated they had a knife and punched him the face.

The two offenders then made off with his bike towards Hinderton Road.

The victim sustained bruising to the face and was very shaken by the incident. At no point was a weapon seen by the victim.

The bike was later found abandoned nearby.

Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued CCTV images of two men they believe could assist in their investigation.

Detective Inspector Dave Sung said, “This was a cowardly attack on a young victim who suffered bruising to the face and was left very distressed.

“This incident took place just after 9pm, so I urge anyone who saw the incident or noticed something suspicious around that time which may have been captured it on dashcam footage to please contact us.

“I am also appealing to the two men featured in the images, or anyone who recognises them to come forward. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact Merseyside Police at @MerPolCC on Twitter, ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or ring 101 with reference 23000602646. Y
