Men from New Brighton and Liverpool arrested following city centre fight

Three arrests have been made after a group of men were assaulted in Liverpool last night (Saturday 25 February).

At around 10.40pm, Merseyside Police received a report of an altercation between two groups of men at a bar on Fenwick Street in Liverpool city centre.

Three men were taken to hospital with one suffering serious facial injuries after being attacked at the bar.

One man remains in hospital.

Three men from New Brighton and Liverpool have been arrested on suspicion of affray and section 18 wounding with intent.

They have been taken to a police station on Merseyside and remain in custody.

Detective Inspector Chris Hawitt said, “This was a dangerous and violent attack in our city centre and although we have made three arrests overnight our investigation is still in the very early stages as we seek to establish exactly what took place on Fenwick Street.

“We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry in the local area. If you were on Fenwick Street at around 10.30pm last night and saw the attack, then please let us know. 

“Similarly, if you took photos on your mobile phone or have CCTV footage please come forward.”
