Tranmere visited Holker Street for their League 2 match against Barrow yesterday. It was the new Bluebirds boss Michael Jolley’s first game in charge of the club.
James Vaughan opened the scoring for Rovers with an unstoppable in-off-the-post header at 23 minutes, assisted by Feeney. In the second half, Scott Quigley equalised for Barrow by way of a 65th-minute penalty.
Quigley won the hosts a penalty when he was fouled in the box by Sid Nelson. He buried the ball in the net, notching him up four goals in four games.
But, moments later, Barrow were reduced to 10 men when Harrison Biggins was sent off for a second bookable offence.
The 79th minute brought a great chance for Clarke at the host’s back post, but the Bluebird’s keeper, Joel Dixon, produced a reaction save to deny Tranmere the lead.
Tranmere couldn’t find a way to take advantage of the 10-man Barrow side and the score ended 1-1.
