Man’s body found in Morpeth Dock

Merseyside Police has confirmed enquiries are underway following the discovery of a man’s body in Morpeth Dock in between Wallasey and Birkenhead, Wirral this morning.

Emergency services were called to Morpeth Wharf just before 10.40am to a report that the body of a man had been seen in the water.

Officers, Coastguard and North West Ambulance Service attended and the man was removed from the water and pronounced dead.

At this time the death is being treated as unexplained and a post mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and inform next of kin.
