Man tries to use electric bike as getaway vehicle to evade arrest

At around 5.50pm yesterday (Thursday 11 February), Merseyside Police officers sighted a man in suspicious circumstances on St Oswalds Avenue, Beechwood.

He attempted to make off on an electric bike but was detained nearby. A bag containing around £19,000 was recovered and seized.

The 21-year-old man from Beechwood was arrested on suspicion of acquire/use/possess criminal property and taken to a police station for questioning. He remains in custody at the time of writing.

£19,000 in cash and this bag of drugs were seized.

In a Facebook post, Wirral Police said, “Targeted Team officers are currently conducting extra patrols on the Beechwood Estate. Tonight a drugs transaction was stopped where £19k cash was intercepted. 1 offender in custody”
