Man stole handbag from Subway worker

A man has been jailed for four months following a burglary in Liverpool.

Alan Pike, 49, of Gatacre, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 22 May.

On Wednesday 10 May, Pike entered Subway, on Mytrle Street, through a rear door and stole the handbag of a staff member.

He was arrested ten days later after being spotted walking down a road by officers on patrol.

Community Policing Inspector Jack Woodward said, “We welcome this sentencing and hope that Pike reflects on his actions during his time in prison.

“We are determined to keep reducing burglary and theft offences in the city centre and the harm this causes. If you are aware of a theft or burglary, please get in touch.

“You can report any concerns to police on 999 if a crime is in progress or via @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook.”
