Man sought following unprovoked assault in Stanley Park

Merseyside Police has today issued an image of a man who is believed to be able to assist enquiries into an assault in Stanley Park earlier this year.

Between midday and 1pm on Wednesday, 7 February, a man was on a video call with a family member in Stanley Park when he was subject to an unprovoked attack.

The victim was left with a broken jaw after being punched to the face and falling to the floor.

Detective Inspector Jay Halpin said, “This was a disgraceful and sickening attack carried out in a park that is enjoyed by people of all ages.

“The victim required hospital treatment for the injury he sustained, and is thankfully now recovering.

“But the psychological impact of being targeted in this way should not be underestimated.”

“We are very keen to hear from the man pictured, or anyone who recognises him, as we believe he may have information about the incident that could prove vital to our enquiries.”

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook with reference 24000154054.
