Man shot in legs in Fazakerley shooting

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a shooting in Fazakerley this morning (Wednesday 4 May).

A report was received at 9.55am that a man in his 20s had been shot to the legs.

The man arrived at hospital in a black Mercedes for treatment of his injuries.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

It was reported that shots were fired just before 9.30am. Enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly where the offence has taken place.

Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Wilson said, “We are in the very early stages of the investigation as we seek to establish where the incident took place and who was involved.

“Fortunately, the man’s injuries are not life-threatening and whilst I understand this is a shocking incident for the local community we believe this was a targeted attack.

“We have a large police presence in the area.

“I would encourage anyone who knows about this incident or has any information about firearms in their local community to come forward and tell us what they know.

“There is no room for guns on the streets of Merseyside and we will do everything within our power to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
