Detectives investigating a serious assault on Mathew Street this weekend (Saturday 11 June) have issued CCTV images of five men they wish to speak to in connection with their enquiries.
At around 6.25pm, emergency services were called to Hardy’s Bar on Mathew Street after a man was found unconscious after being assaulted.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Following extensive CCTV enquiries, police are releasing the pictures of five men, believed to have been visiting Liverpool from the Crewe area, who could have information to help our investigation.
Officers are appealing for these men, or anyone who recognises them, to come forward to assist our enquiries.
Detective Inspector Katie Coote said, “This was a nasty attack which left a man seriously injured and we are working hard to find the person responsible.
“The bars and restaurants in our city centre should be safe spaces for us all to enjoy and we simply will not tolerate such violence on our streets.
“If you recognise any of the men pictured then please let us know, as they may hold information vital to our ongoing investigation.
“Similarly if you were out in Hardy’s Bar or in the Matthew Street area on Saturday night and saw anything suspicious then please come forward. Whether you tell us directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon.”
