A man from Kensington has been jailed for 12 years after a firearm was discovered in a house.
Steven Parle, 36, of Kensington, was sentenced for possession of a firearm, possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply and possession of criminal property at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday (Monday 19 June).
On Tuesday 12 April 2022, officers carried out a drugs warrant at a property on Minto Close and found suspected Class A drugs on a table.
Following further searches of the house, officers found a shotgun wrapped in a towel, which had been placed inside a bag.
The gun, which had the word Beretta on the side, was seized and a forensic examination of the weapon found Parle’s DNA on the firearm.
Detective Inspector Peter McCullough said, “This result shows how committed our officers are to making Merseyside a safer place by removing firearms and those that would use them from our streets.
“In this case and in so many others information from communities makes a big difference, so if you know where dangerous weapons are being stored, carried or used, let us know and we will take positive action.
“We’re absolutely determined to tackle serious organised crime, including gun crime, and we have dedicated teams that will act on information provided.”
