Man injured in Leasowe Bay dog attack

Police are appealing for information following a dog attack in Leasowe last week.

At around 11.30am on Friday, 31 May, a report was received of a woman walking five dogs on Leasowe Beach, two of which reportedly knocked over a man walking his own dog.

The man sustained head, facial and hand injuries when falling, which required hospital treatment.

The woman made off and enquiries are ongoing.

The man told Birkenhead News, “Whilst walking my son’s small ‘Zuchon’ dog on Leasowe Bay beach she was viciously attacked by five dogs not on leads.” He said that two of the larger dogs were either Irish Wolfhounds or Italian Spinone.

He went on to say, “The attaching pack were extremely aggressive and I feared for the life of my son’s dog. In rescuing my son’s dog, I was jumped on by the two larger dogs and forced onto rocks.

“I received injuries to my head, thumb and forefinger which required hospital treatment.” He said that other walkers on the beach took photos and videos of the woman and her dogs.
