Man in critical condition following Tranmere stabbing

Merseyside Police is appealing for information after a man was stabbed in Tranmere in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 10 October.

At around 4am it was reported that a man aged in his 40s had been stabbed on Brougham Avenue.

Officers attended the scene, but the suspect had fled the area on foot, believed to be in the direction of Orchard Court and Quigley Street.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to puncture wounds to his back and neck. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Officers were in the area this morning (Tuesday 10 October) to carry out forensic, CCTV, house-to-house, and witness enquiries.

High visibility patrols will also be in the area to reassure the local community.

Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said, “We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and would appeal to anyone with information to please come forward.

“We are still trying to establish the circumstances of what happened and what led to this incident.

“If you live in the area, please check your CCTV cameras to see if you captured anything at around the time of the incident. Any piece of information could prove vital to our enquiries.”
