Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision this evening, Tuesday 6 September.
At around 6.30pm, emergency services were called to the junction of Boundary Street and Regent Road to reports of a collision involving a motorbike and a car.
Emergency services attended the scene and the motorbike rider, a man in his 20s, was seriously injured. We can confirm that he sadly passed away in hospital a short time later.
The driver of the black Audi car stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries.
Two people traveling in the Audi were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Road closures are in place around Boundary Street and Great Howard Street while emergency services attend the incident.
Merseyside Police is asking road users to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
Police are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
Chief Inspector Colin Dyer said, “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the man who has sadly lost his life following a collision this evening.
“We have now launched an investigation into his death and his family have been informed. They are being supported by our specially trained liaison officers.
“I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to please contact us. Alternatively if you were driving in the vicinity I ask that you please check your dashcam footage that may have captured the incident and to also come forward.
“Every piece information is vitally important to our investigation to establish what happened.”
