Man charged with rape at Lime Street Station

A 31-year-old man will appear at court charged in connection to a rape at Liverpool Lime Street station that occurred shortly after 2am on 6 February.

At just after 2am on the morning of Sunday 6 February, the victim, an 18-year-old woman, was taken into an enclosed area adjoining Liverpool Lime Street station by a man she had never met.

He then assaulted and raped her before leaving the location.

William John Ormandy, 31, of Halewood, Merseyside, is charged with rape and assault by penetration. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court this morning (18 February).

Detective Inspector Granville Sellers said, “This is an extremely disturbing incident that occurred in central Liverpool at a time when many people were in the area.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone that witnessed anything suspicious to get in touch with us as soon as possible.
