Man charged with racially aggravated assault in city centre

Merseyside Police Detectives have charged a man with racially aggravated assault following an incident earlier this year in Liverpool City Centre.

At around 11.45pm on Saturday 26 March, the two victims approached the front of the queue at Bar 54 on Seel Street.

They were refused entry by a member of door security and racially abusive comments were reportedly made towards them.

Both men were subsequently assaulted, with one victim sustaining a fractured eye socket and fractured cheekbone, and the other sustaining facial bruising.

Alan Day, 34, of Liverpool has now been charged with Racially aggravated Section 20 assault; Racially aggravated Section 39 assault; and Section 20 assault.

Day will appear at court on Wednesday 18 January 2023, when it is anticipated he will enter a not guilty plea.
