Man charged following RTC that caused police car to burst into flames

Merseyside Police has charged a 24-year-old man following a road traffic collision between a Volkswagen Passat being driven on Woodchurch Road and a marked police car on Friday, 8 September.

Following the collision the police car caught fire. The two police officers inside the vehicle were able to get out with only minor injuries.

Niall Sinfield, of Claughton, has been charged with failing to stop after a road accident, driving a vehicle without due care and attention and failing to report an accident.

He was bailed to appear in court in Wirral on Tuesday 26 September.
