A man has been charged following a serious assault where a man was attacked with a machete in Newsham Park in Liverpool.
At around 10.30pm on Saturday 10 June a man was approached by another man by the entrance to Newsham Park who threatened him with a machete.
The victim ran into the park but was attacked by the man with the machete and hit several times.
A 41-year-old man from the area was later arrested on Wednesday 23 August.
John Muldoon aged 41 of Liverpool was charged with robbery, threatening a person with a bladed object, assault, possession of a knife and strangulation.
He was remanded into custody and will appear at Wirral Magistrates Court today, Friday 25 August.
Detective Inspector Darren Taylor said, “Our officers remain relentless in our pursuit to remove any dangerous weapons from our streets and are actively working to make Merseyside a safer place to live and work.
“If you know anything about the storage, movement or use of such weapons, please come forward directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
“What you tell us may lead to other weapons being removed from circulation, and those communities becoming stronger, safer and secure.”
