Man arrested on suspicion of sexual communication with children in Wavertree

Detectives are appealing for key witnesses after a 41-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of sexual communication with a child on Sunday 12 May.

He has since been bailed and a police investigation is ongoing.

At around 5.20pm, police received a report that three young children had been approached by a man, who made inappropriate comments towards them at Mystery Park in Wavertree.

A 41-year-old man from Liverpool was later arrested on suspicion of sexual communication with a child and resisting arrest.

He was taken to a police station in Merseyside and has since been bailed with conditions whilst detectives continue their investigations.

Witness enquiries were carried out by officers after the incident was reported and we now believe a male in the park with a drone who may have witnessed what happened and another woman nearby may hold vital evidence that could assist the investigation.

Detective Inspector Michael Fletcher said, “We are keen to speak with the man and woman who were in Mystery Park when the incident occurred on Sunday. They may recall seeing the suspect or recorded what happened.

“Any information they give could really support our enquiries.

“If you were in the park on Sunday at around 5pm and recall anything from this incident, then please get in touch as you may hold information that could assist our investigation.”
