Man arrested following fire at Gateacre house

A man has been arrested following a house fire in Gateacre in the early hours of this morning, Friday 25 August.

Just before 3am, Merseyside Police received a report that a house was on fire on Grange Lane.

The fire is believed to have been started within the property. No injuries have been reported.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire. 

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He is still in police custody to be questioned.

A joint investigation between Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Police is ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police. 

CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out, and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
