Man arrested following armed police unit car pursuit from Cheshire to Wirral

A man was arrested in Bebington following a police pursuit on Friday 27 August by Cheshire & North Wales Alliance Armed Policing unit.

Cheshire Police had been in pursuit of a black BMW car after it came to their attention in Ellesmere Port, before it was driven at speed on the M53 in the direction of Wirral.

The car left the motorway at junction 4, Clatterbridge, and came to a stop after colliding with a wall on The Village, Bebington. The driver made off from the vehicle on foot.

The driver decamped from a moving vehicle at the junction of The Village and Heath Road at Bebington. A foot chase ensued and the offender was located hiding in a garden waste bin on Parkside Road.

A 36-year-old man from Winsford was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. He has been taken to a police station to be interviewed.
