Man arrested at Birkenhead Park on suspicion of a sexual offence

Merseyside Police has arrested a man on suspicion of a sexual offence following an incident in Birkenhead on Saturday, 18 September.

At around 10pm, officers were called to Birkenhead Park following the report of a man being detained by a member of an alleged Online Child Sexual Abuse Activist Group in Birkenhead Park to allegations that a man had arranged to meet a decoy posing as a 15-year-old boy for sexual purposes. 

Following enquiries, officers detained a man on suspicion of cause/incite sexual exploitation, and common assault. 

He has been questioned and remains under investigation pending further enquiries.
