Man arrested as drugs and cash seized in Tranmere

Merseyside Police has arrested a man and seized suspected drugs and cash following an incident in Tranmere last night, Tuesday 8 November.

At around 8pm, officers on patrol in Church Road saw a suspected drug transaction on a footpath close to the Co-Op supermarket.

A man ran away and following a foot pursuit and repeated attempts to resist arrest, including assaulting an officer, he was detained. The officer sustained an elbow injury and was treated at hospital.

Suspected drugs, cash and other items were seized.

A 30-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply heroin, and cocaine; assault by beating of an emergency worker; and resisting arrest.

He was taken to a police station for questioning and remains in custody.
