Man arrested and drugs, cash, and knife seized following incident in Bootle

Merseyside Police has arrested a man and seized suspected drugs and cash following an incident in Bootle last night, Sunday 27 November.

At around 9.30pm, officers sighted a man on an electric pedal cycle on Bootle Strand. They attempted to stop check him but he made off through red lights and was detained on Merton Road a short time later after colliding with a police vehicle and attempting to run off.

Following a search, suspected heroin, crack cocaine, cash, and a knife were found and the 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs; possession of a bladed article; and possession of criminal property.

He remains in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dyer said, “This was some swift police work which has resulted in drugs and a dangerous weapon being removed from the community.

“The more organised criminal activity we can disrupt, the safer the streets, so come forward with any information and we will keep taking this positive action.

If you have any information about the storage, supply and possession of drugs and weapons, contact Merseyside Policer at @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or call 999 if a crime is in progress.
