Liverpool man jailed after being involved in the multi kilo supply of heroin and cocaine

A 48-year-old man from Liverpool has been jailed for more than 10 years after being involved in the multi kilo supply of heroin and cocaine across Merseyside.

Peter Heron, of Grosvenor Road, Liverpool pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs and possession of criminal property at Liverpool Crown Court today (Friday 22 October).

Heron, who used the mobile encrochat handle “Tamewelder” was covertly involved in the supply of drugs across Merseyside and was caught supplying six kilos of cocaine and approximately four kilos of cannabis.

He was arrested at his home address in July 2021 as part of three warrants by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit’s Operation Whiteout.

Detective Sergeant Adam Smith said: “Heron is the latest person to be dealt with as part of Operation Whiteout – North West Regional Organised Crime Unit’s overarching response to the management of evidential drugs packages derived from Operation Venetic which targets criminals who use a mobile encryption service to try to evade detection.

“The operation has provided us and law enforcement across the UK and oversees with a wealth of evidence to arrest and ultimately convict drug dealers who believed they could evade justice by using an encrypted network.

“We hope this lengthy sentencing proves that nobody is above the law and that our officers will leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of criminals involved in serious and organised crime.

“Although we have taken a considerable drugs supply line off our streets that could have endangered communities and people’s lives we are still urging anyone who has information about drug dealing in their area to let us know so that we can continue to take positive action.”
