Liverpool charity welcomes 91st Smiley Bus

A Liverpool charity has become the 91st recipient of a Steve Morgan Foundation Smiley Bus.

St Michael’s and Lark Lane Community Association, which is better known as Lark Lane Community Centre, provides leisure and educational opportunities for local residents.

The charity applied for a Smiley Bus to replace their old one, which was regularly used by children’s groups as well as providing transport to disabled and elderly groups.

After raising £7,500 themselves the Foundation contributed the remaining £32,145.

The keys were handed over to committee secretary John Peers and the bus has already been put to good use.

One of the vehicle’s first trips was to Conway Castle for a mental health outing.

A spokesman for Lark Lane Community Centre said, “The organisation has tens of thousands of visitors each year and continues to support the most vulnerable within the community.

“The bus will be invaluable. I can say without hesitation that the minibus is a great asset. We’re eternally grateful to Steve Morgan and the Foundation team for this support.”
