Merseyside Police has made an arrest and seized cocaine and cannabis after a man made off from patrols on an electric motorbike in Oxton on Monday (31 January.)
Officers on patrol spotted a man on an off-road electric motorcycle, who made off from the patrols at around 8.20pm.
Following a search nearby, the motorcycle was located outside a property on Wellington Road.
Officers entered the property, located the motorcycle rider inside and detained him.
A large quantity of cash, cannabis, suspected cocaine drugs paraphernalia were also seized.
A 27-year-old man from Liscard was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B controlled drug (cannabis); possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug (cocaine); acquiring/using/possessing criminal property; failing to provide a specimen for analysis; failing to co-operate with a preliminary test (motor vehicle offence); and theft of a motor vehicle.
He has been taken into custody to be interviewed.
Detective Inspector Lynsay Armbruster said, “A significant quantity of drugs has been taken out of circulation thanks to the vigilance of officers who spotted the suspect on a routine proactive patrol.
“Our officers patrol the streets of Merseyside 365 days a year to protect the public from those people who bring threats, violence and intimidation to the streets as they peddle illegal drugs.
“I hope arrests such as this send a clear message to others involved in this type of criminality that you will always looking over your shoulder waiting for a visit from police.
“We will take action and you will be arrested and put before the courts.”
Det Insp Lynsay Armbruster added, “Information from the community about drug dealing in their area is an absolutely vital part of our efforts to stop drug dealers profiting from misery and exploitation of vulnerable people.
“If you believe there is drug dealing happening in your area, please contact police so we can bring offenders to justice and safeguard their victims.”
