Letters to the Editor: Council should publish drainage maintenance records

Dear Editor,

Perhaps Wirral Council should publish the records of the dates, frequency, and occasions that are actually subject to inspection, cleaning, maintenance, of the drainage systems. In particular, those known black spots and potential flooding sites.

Wirral Council does employ people with the specific obligation to carry out such inspections and have all the information, this would show that the council are proactive and not just reactionary with these problems. It would also be of use to the insurance settlement of damage claims.

Residents should inspect the road grids outside their property and report any blocked or choked locations to the council via the council website, even better notify your local councillor. Prevention is far more effective than reacting after the event as we are getting into Autumn and heavy leaf falls together with a wet heavy rainfall winter on the horizon.
