Leasowe man arrested on suspicion of murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of a woman in Wirral this afternoon, Monday, 1 February. 

At around 10.40am, emergency services were called to an address in Twickenham Drive, Leasowe, where they found the body of a woman in her 50s. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A short time later, officers arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He has been taken for questioning as enquiries continue.

An investigation is underway and  a post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death. The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this time. 

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Nilsen said: “We are in the very early stages of an investigation however, at this time, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this tragic incident.

“We can confirm that the victim and man arrested were known to each other.

“House-to-house, forensic and CCTV enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone with any information to please come forward. If you saw or heard any suspicious behaviour in the Twickenham Drive area, please get in touch.”
