Lairds Youth in nine-goal thriller at Maghull

The battle for the West Cheshire League Youth Division title continued as Cammell Laird 1907 FC Youth won a nine goal thriller away at Maghull.

They top the Youth Division table by two points after this victory and could clinch the title despite having two difficult fixtures against close rivals Maghull B and South Liverpool still to play.

But goals from Theo McDowell (2), Charlie Rooke, Teddy Galer, and Myles Arnott sealed the win as they strive to take the title at the first attempt. Their final fixture is against West Kirby United.

Lairds reserves who have already claimed a double with the divisional title and Third Division Shield, will play second from bottom Poulton Vics on Tuesday, 7 May, and then West Kirby Reserves in the semi final of the Wirral DFA Amateur Cup on Thursday, 9 May.

If they win that fixture they would then play Neston Nomad Reserves in the final on Monday 13th May. Their final league fixture would then be on Friday, 17 May, against Heswall U23s.
