Lairds Reserves complete treble success

Cammell Laird 1907 FC Reserves completed a treble success in their first season under the club’s banner in the West Cheshire League Third Division.

The Reserves won the divisional title, the third division Shield trophy, and then the Wirral District FA Amateur Cup in fine fashion versus Neston Nomads Reserves from the Second Division.

The first half of the final was a cagey affair as both teams fought to gain the upper hand and even with the better chances created, Lairds had to settle for a goalless half time period, in which manager John Leasor spelt out to his team what was required to take the trophy on show in no uncertain terms.

Without doubt, this message was adhered to, because within minutes of the restart they opened the scoring and continued to add to that throughout the second half as goals flowed freely in a dominant team performance that saw Jayden Jones dominating procedures to become man of the match.

Both Adam Larway and Jayden Jones bagged hat-tricks, with Kieran Hughes and Ben Crossley adding singles to secure an 8-0 triumph in emphatic fashion and enabled captain Peter Charles receive the coveted trophy form the Wirral District FA committee member Gill Roberts and to lift the trophy high to the accolades of all present.

Cammell Laird 1907 FC have now claimed the Wirral District FA Senior Cup and the Amateur Cup this season as both the first team and the Reserves have had great success in these competitions and the youth team may well add a further trophy before the season ends.
