Lairds Reserves clinch title

Congratulations go to Cammell Laird 1907 FC Reserves as they clinched the West Cheshire League Third Division title with an emphatic victory over West Kirby Reserves at the KRCT Stadium.

Needing the three points to ensure the title for their management team of John Leasor, Danny Wilson, and Gary Hewitt in their maiden season in the league, they delivered a complete performance and an 8-0 success to enable wild celebrations for the whole squad and club dignitaries.

Goals were free flowing as ace marksman Kieran Hughes bagged a fine foursome, with Luke Burns, Jaiden Jones, Leo Patten, and Adam Larway netting a goal apiece as they ensured the trophy came their way.

With only a couple of games still to play they will be aiming for more points and goals to their excellent tally, as they look forward to a higher division next season.

Also looking to take a title are the Lairds Youth team as they edged closer to the youth division championship following their 3-0 defeat of West Kirby United on Monday evening thanks to goals from Theo McDowell, Charlie Cooke, and a Jack Gordon penalty in a lively fixture that saw both teams miss a penalty, but Lairds played as a unit and rightly took the spoils.

So as a trophy-laden season for the Lairds club is well on the way and thanks go to club secretary Toddy Wood and treasurer Sean Holmes and especially groundsman John King for their behind the scenes work that has helped immensely throughout a tough season.
