A Knowsley man has been charged with firearms, weapons and drug offences today, Friday 20 May.
A 23-year-old man was arrested at a property in Huyton yesterday, Thursday 19 May, following an investigation by Merseyside Police.
He was taken into custody for questioning.
A bladed weapon and a quantity of Class B drugs were recovered from the property.
Sean Aspinall, 23 years, of Huyton has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, converting an imitation firearm into a firearm and possession of a controlled Class B drug (amphetamine).
Aspinall appeared at Liverpool Adult Remand Court this afternoon and has been remanded into custody.
Merseyside Police is taking part in a national firearms surrender which finishes on Sunday 29 May where people can hand over any firearms and ammunition in a responsible and safe way.
Detective Inspector John Mullen said, “We encourage members of the public to hand in any firearms, which may be lawfully held, or imitation firearms to prevent them falling into the wrong hands.
“People can arrange an appointment for a firearm to be collected by calling police on 101, and this can be at a location of their choice.”
