Knifepoint robbery at Upton newsagent

Detectives have issued images of three males they believe may have information that could assist with their enquiries following a report of a robbery where staff were threatened with a knife at a newsagent in Upton.

At around 1.50pm it was reported that two males entered a newsagent on Arrowe Park Road.

One of the suspects who was armed with a knife threatened the shop workers with the weapon and stole a quantity of cash from the till.

CCTV footage showed that the suspects ran into an alley next to a bar on Arrowe Park Road, where one of the suspects threw the knife into a bin.

No one was injured but the staff were left fearing for their safety after the incident.

Officers have carried out extensive CCTV enquiries in the area and have issued images of three males they wish to speak who could assist in their investigation.

Detective Inspector Dave Sung said, “To carry a knife and then threaten to use it is reckless behaviour which will not be tolerated in our community.

“Anyone who is working and trying to earn an honest living should never experience such violence. We are determined to find the suspect and our investigation is ongoing.

“If you recognise the males pictured, or their clothing which is very distinctive, please get in touch because we believe they can assist our enquiries.

“Whether you come forward to us directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon.”
