Joyful new year for RNLI couple with arrival of baby Harry

New Brighton RNLI were given the greatest gift of all this Christmas, with the announcement of the birth of baby Harry.

It was a new year to remember for New Brighton RNLI, as two of their volunteer crew, Tom and Emily McGinn, became parents for the first time. Indeed, Mark and Sharon, Harry’s grandparents, also serve as volunteers for the New Brighton crew – Mark as a DLA and tractor driver, and Sharon as a shop volunteer.

Harry McGinn was born on Tuesday, 2 January 2024 at 16:56, weighing 7lbs 13oz, and is already being sized up for his first pair of yellow wellies.

Now happy and healthy at home, the family are overjoyed, and share in the love and best wishes of their fellow crew members.

The beginning of 2024 has certainly been memorable for Tom and Emily, who also got engaged on New Brighton RNLI’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat whilst on exercise a couple of years back. The end of 2023 was also significant for Tom, who recently passed out as New Brighton RNLI’s newest helm. He has since taken command of his first shout too.

Emily, volunteer crew member and new mother, and Tom, helm and new father, said, !We are absolutely overjoyed to finally meet our little boy, and we can’t wait to start making memories with him. We know how excited the crew are to meet him too, though we don’t share their enthusiasm for getting him on a shore crew plan just yet!!

Everyone at New Brighton RNLI wish Tom, Emily and Harry all the very best as they embark on this new exciting journey as a family.
