One thing that is a bit different about the Warriors, is that they encourage parents to get out and run as well.
Sometimes parents worry that they won’t be able to do it, but the effort is well worth the reward, because young athletes love cheering on their coaches and parents.
In one case Owen Oswick gets to cheer on both at once, because dad James took up running to be able to run with Owen, and is now planning to take his coaching qualifications.
At the weekend they both ran at the Christleton 5k, and both clocked fantastic personal bests. Dad James went under 20 minutes for the first time with 19.38, and Owen ran the unbelievable time of 17.22, which is astonishing at just 11 years old.
Later that weekend James also ran a 1 hour 39 minute half marathon, which is not too shabby either. The club is very proud of them both.
Any parents who would like to start running along with their children are very welcome to join. Get in touch as usual with Ronan at ronan@runwirral.uk
