Hype joins forces with National Citizen Service for half-term programme

HYPE Merseyside is inviting young people aged 16-17 from Liverpool and Wirral to sign up for free activities funded by National Citizen Service (NCS) this October half term.

From Monday 23 – Friday 27 October 2023, the Birkenhead-based social enterprise is offering 100 young people the opportunity to get fitter, stronger and healthier over the five-day programme, while also developing life and employability skills.

The programme will include health and wellbeing workshops, sessions where they can learn how to prepare and cook healthy meals and opportunities to participate in fitness sessions and learn from gym coaches.

There will be Football Coach Education workshops delivered by UEFA A-Licence coaches, opportunities to learn about the importance of finding and being positive role models and an exciting visit to a top Premier League Stadium.

The half-term programme also incorporates social action, allowing young participants to work with local organisations, raise funds for a local cause and make a difference in the local community. Free meals will be provided to participants throughout the programme and transportation costs will also be covered.

NCS offers a range of different experiences to help young people grow their strengths, with more than 750,000 having already participated in their programmes.

Speaking of the funded programme, Matthew Houghton from HYPE Merseyside said, “We are incredibly grateful to NCS for delivering this fantastic half-term programme. It is a brilliant opportunity for local young people to boost their confidence, learn new skills, build their resilience, and also make new friends.

“There are only 100 places available so we’re advising anyone who is keen to participate to register their interest as soon as possible by completing the form on our website.

“We’re really excited to meet our participants and encourage them to grow and develop during the programme – it’s going to be a lot of fun! Some of the participants will also have the chance to travel to New York with HYPE next summer.”
