Wirral’s COVID-19 infection rate has dropped over 50% from 131.5 per 100,000 last week to 61.4 per 100,000, latest figures reveal. The number of cases (Pillar 1 & 2) dropped from 426 to 199.
Only two areas of Wirral saw a rise in the infection rate: Pensby & Thingwall (137.7) and Bidston & St. James (74.2)
The infection rate for Merseyside dropped considerably as well, falling from 163.4 last week, to 98.2 this week. The figures for both Wirral and Merseyside are very much lower than the national rate which stands at 155.8.
The latest data shows that a further 13 Wirral people have died with COVID-19 in that last week, bringing the total to 551 deaths up to 20th November.
