West Kirby United progressed to the quarter-finals of The Jimmy Core Cup with a comfortable 5-0 win over Wirral Athletic. Finding the net for West Kirby were Harvey Dean, Ethan Cartwright with a treble and a Robbie Nairn effort.
Dock AFC are still in the mix for 5 trophies after their latest run out at KRCT FC (formerly known as Rockpoint.) Dock ran out 3-1 winners in The Tony Houlihan Memorial Challenge Cup round 3 tie, with a brace from Haydn Cooper and an Adam Lea strike. Dock now have a tough game at Beechwood FC in the quarter-finals. KRCT are 5 points clear at the top of Division Two and are still in two other cup competitions, it bodes well for both clubs.
It was the Smith and Jones show for Rock Ferry Social in The Premier Division. A brace from Adam (Sabu) Smith and a Kyle Jones single kept the Rock boys in pole position and two points clear with a game in hand. Could it be the very first Premier Title for the Social gang? The 3-1 win over Lancelyn Glenavon who replied via Danny Dixon enhanced their chances.
Rivacre FC who had a very quiet start to the season also notched a 3-1 result against 10 men for an hour as Neston Nomads (Jamie Gardiner) who certainly put a shift in but could not hold on when it was 1-1. Rivacre converted their chances in a derby clash and have not given up on a late run in and have many tough league games to play.
Another local derby saw 10 men Beechwood FC take control of the game with rivals Corsair FC 3-0. The marksmen for Beechwood were Morgan Woods, Liam Keating and Lewis Donaldson. Second-placed Woodchurch Hotel FC warmed up for next Sunday’s clash in the Cheshire Cup with Dock with a solid 5-1 success at Queens Park (Tom Black), Jordan Deer, Stew Jackson with a double, Ben Holmes and Finlay Eason notching all the goals for Woodchurch Hotel. Great Float S&S sailed to a 4-2 win over FC Bidston (Alan Goodhall, Mark McNoon.)
Game of the day in Division One saw second play host to third and honours were shared between Bushell Grange Athletic (Ben Glover) and Bromborough Rake (Ian Hulley.) The second place for promotion is between both clubs as The Lukes have an 11 point gap. With only two places available for promotion, it is wide open between them.
Also trading goals and points were Upton Town (Brendan Doherty) and AFC Shaftes (Eddie Jebb.) Wirral Radio, who had an awful start to their league campaign and never picked up any points in the first 6 leagues games, have turned it around have secured four league wins with the latest 1-0 at Neston United.
Woodchurch Rovers led 2-0 at halftime through Zac Woods and Ryan Thompson with Poulton Vics S&S down to 10 men. Woodchurch Rovers scored a third via Tommy Atherton then Vics rallied round and dominated the last 30 minutes scoring through Ben Ellis and Connor Jones, but it was not quite enough to find an equaliser.
A Kevin Day hattrick was the order of the day for JPL Jets as they cruised to a 5-1 win over Silva Athletic (Samuel Davies) supplemented by singles for Sam and Ryan Jones that keeps them on course for a promotion spot in Division Two.
Second-place New Ferry Rangers accounted for Barcode FC 1-0, while MSC Eastham played out a goalless draw with Eagle Stirrup FC. Prenton FC are making a late charge up the table after inflicting an 8-0 rout on Glenavon Athletic. On the scoresheet for Prenton were Tom Briggs, Lewis Killen, and Tom Fenley with two goals each supported by singles from Liam Walsh and Tom Molloy.
AFC Park North maintained a 3 point advantage at the top of Division Three thanks to Leighton Clarke and Declan Wray with a narrow 2-1 win over Oval FC. Whitby Rangers FC (Toby Cogswell 2, Matty Vickers 2, Tom Ruffer) had to overcome Barkers Armchair FC 5-2, with the division approaching the half way mark, it seems certain that the top two clubs will clinch promotion as the chasing pack have too much to do and will take points off each other. Then again, nothing is certain in football.
In the chasing pack, North Wirral Saints (Mike Manser 2, Will Gill, Sam Dangerfield) had to share the spoils with Old Parks FC in an enthralling 4-4 draw, with both clubs losing ground on the top three. With the loss of Wallasey Village to the league, it was also a 6 point loss to AFC Tima who unfortunately dropped down the table, but they have hit back winning 3-0 against AFC Raeburn. Parkgate St Germain won 2-0 in a mid-table tussle with AFC Rangers with Jake Roberts and Johnny Gibson claiming a goal apiece.
