Houlihan’s Birkenhead Sunday Association Football League round-up, 22 January 2023

Wirral Radio played all the right tunes to secure a place in the semi finals of the Frank Robinson Presidents Cup with Conor Egan, Will Gryba, and Suphot Thiamdong all netting in a narrow 3-2 win at Woodchurch Rovers.

They will be joined in the hat with Rig Move who saw off a strong challenge from Cheshire Cheese (Luke Warrington) 2-1, Josh Lyth and an OG registering for Rig Move.

Athletic VH cemented a place in The Jimmy Core Cup semi finals with a 3-0 victory at Higher Bebington Kelma.

Dock AFC dipped out of the FA National Sunday Cup 2-0 after playing host to Liverpool side, AFC Bull 2-0.

With the weather taking its toll on many fixtures in both cup and league games, mainly due to frozen pitches, only four league games were possible. Connor Doyle was the star man for Rock Ferry with a hat-trick and was supported by a Kie Hughes effort. Kieran Cartwright replied for Corsair PV.

Queens Park took the honours at Neston Nomads (Luke Blondel pen, Joe Foster) 4-2 thanks to a Mike Davies double with further strikes from Levi Chiduka and Max Herbert,

A solitary strike from Liam Jameson for Poulton Victoria S&S earned their first maximum points haul in Division Two against Eagle Stirrup FC 1-0.

Old Parks FC inflicted a first league defeat on Division Three leaders West Kirby United 3-1. Netting for Old Parks were James Kirkham, Ben Kierman, and Karlin Fleckner.
