Heswall opticians celebrates 40 years of service with tree planting

An independent opticians in Heswall has marked 40 years in business, holding a celebration event and planting a tree to mark their dedication to the community.

Harris Opticians has been at the heart of the community since its establishment in February 1983 by John and Pam Harris, serving several generations of patients across those four decades.

To commemorate the anniversary, the team planted a tree opposite the practice to signify their growth in the community over the years and their hopes to further nurture the health of the local area.

Further marking the occasion, an event was held in July where patients were welcomed into the practice to join staff in their celebrations.

Guests in attendance were greeted with a complimentary glass of fizz, nibbles and styling consultations, courtesy of their experienced team amidst a showcase of their Tom Ford, Gucci and Chloe collections that were available to browse.

During its 40-year history, Harris Opticians has established itself as a practice that pays due care and diligence to each individual patient, forming strong relationships with their clients as well as the wider community.

Ian Westlake-Guy, Director and Optician at Harris Opticians, said, “I’m really proud to be a part of the practice’s history, so much has changed since 1983 in terms of frames and technology, but I think we still have the same values now than we did when we first started.

“I think our patients keep coming back to us because we treat them like family; we get to know them and their wants and needs and give a really personalised service.”

“It’s great to be able to give back to that community that has supported us for so many years and celebrate this special anniversary with them.”

Over the years, the practice has expanded its services to continually modernise the practice, including an OCT machine, which helps to spot sight-threatening conditions before symptoms even arise, as well as offering cataract assessment clinics and contact lens appointments.

This anniversary means a great deal to the staff at the practice, Ian added, “Being a part of an independent company that has been in business for this long is truly amazing and the whole team love to work here.”

“It’s also a really great opportunity for the team to celebrate this achievement and all of the hard work that they have been putting in over the past few years.”
