Birkenhead man, Danny De Brabander, was diagnosed with terminal Bowel Cancer in 2019 and through #TeamDDB raised over £135,000 for local charitable causes.
Sadly, Danny passed away last month following his long battle with cancer.
Over the last few years, Heswall FC has supported the charity work and fundraising of #TeamDDB. Danny and the team did a magnificent job in raising awareness, bringing in over £135,000 in vital funds and performing random acts of kindness.
Heswall FC hosted a number of charity games at their ground for Danny and #TeamDDB and in a statement said, “We feel inspired to continue to his legacy and honour him.”
Chairman of Heswall FC, Robbie Matthews said, “We at Heswall FC wanted to honour him and as such will be renaming our ground, #TeamDDB Park in his memory.
“We have invited Danny’s family to attend the club and they will be coming along for 1pm on Sunday, 26 November.”
The club would like to invite everyone to the ground renaming event in honour of Danny at Heswall FC, Gayton Park, Brimstage Road, Heswall, at 1pm on Sunday, 26 November.
